The Managing Director of Sunstate Group Queensland (SGQ) at Warana, Mark Goodwin, is a civil engineer who has overseen and delivered an extensive array of projects for the benefit of all Queenslanders from his Sunshine Coast base since 2001 – from $49 million roads, and $12 million wastewater treatment plants, to effluent schemes, airport runways and many commercial property projects. With more than four decades of experience Bob is well regarded in the Queensland construction industry, and has excellent, long-term working relationships with senior engineers and administrators within government and commercial ranks. During his 25 years as managing director of Bellero Constructions, Bob Goodwin grew the company from a small, civil construction operation with a monthly turnover of about $30,000 specialising in small subdivisions in Hervey Bay to a well-known and highly respected statewide civil construction firm and commercial builder with an annual turnover of more than $100 million. Under his leadership, the company had a R4, B3 and F7 TMR financial rating and an allowable BSA annual turnover of approximately $250 million. Prior to Bellero Constructions, Bob was employed by Cairns City, Gold Coast and Hervey Bay City councils in various engineering management roles and was involved in major projects including significant dams and other water and sewerage infrastructure.
Civil Operations Manager – Sunshine Coast
Paul has over 28 years experience in the infrastructure industry, having held various positions for Principal’s/Clients and Contractor/Consultant organisations throughout Queensland and Wales (United Kingdom). Due to this Paul has amassed a unique and beneficial understanding of the technical aspects available to each party for engineering solutions on infrastructure works. Paul’s hands on management approach, developed from a young Site Engineer through to Construction Manager (Sth Qld Roadtek), has seen him accumulate skills in the areas of design and construction of roads, bridges, subdivisions, water supply, sewerage and engineering analysis of infrastructure planning. He also has a strong background in working with diverse teams on varied projects from minor maintenance schemes through to major capital works. Paul brings a wealth of knowledge with him in his role as Civil Operations Manager, ensuring quality, time and budget is delivered to our client’s satisfaction. Paul’s strengths in program and project management, leading construction operations, and having a full appreciation of integrating design intent with construction reality will benefit his clients in achieving better value for money.
Civil Operations Manager – Special Projects
Jim brings to SGQ over 40 years of extensive civil construction experience, working throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Jim has gained his experience through working for local government and the private sector. Joining SGQ in 2011, Jim is responsible for the delivery of major projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and meeting the highest quality and compliance standards.
Operations Manager – Fraser Coast
Ashley has extensive experience in managing a variety of road and other infrastructure projects for both government bodies and private clients. As well as the very many construct-only works he has delivered, he has managed multiple works on a design-and-construct or construct-only with integrated design-enhancement basis. He also has valuable experience from working extensively in geotechnical engineering businesses in his earlier career.
As Operations Manager – Fraser Coast, Ashley provides technical and business expertise, guidance and advice on civil infrastructure projects to the works centre whilst continuing to strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers. He typically oversees multiple projects concurrently, leading project teams and managing preparation of tenders, and developing and controlling project schedules to ensure delivery to the highest standards, within the agreed timeframes.
Operations Manager – Infrastructure Projects
Rod has extensive construction experience across a variety of often logistically difficult civil and other infrastructure works, together with some 9 years design engineer experience in Australia and the UK. He has worked on behalf of and in conjunction with Principal’s/Clients, local and state-wide regulatory authorities through the concept and development phases of works and through to the full construction and commissioning of works.
In 2015 Roderick moved into the role of Infrastructure Manager, with his first assignment being the $6 million Maryborough CBD Flood Resilience project. He has subsequently followed through with Project Managing multiple Fraser Coast Regional Council and private sector projects, having head responsibility for multiple simultaneous works.
